Xbox Games on Demand for October 25, 2011 - Scary Games for Halloween.... plus Rio

Microsoft always seems to have some theme going with the game releases and then ruin it with something completely unrelated. Well, perhaps ruin isn't the right word. However, being that Halloween is drawing near games like Saw II and Blood Drive definitely fit the bill for a Halloween-type game. And then on the side is Rio. Or perhaps it's one of those situations where something doesn't fit and is so cutesy it becomes frightening in and of itself. Maybe? Well anyway, here's the scoop on today's releases for the Xbox Games on Demand.

Blood Drive - $49.99 - 1.69GB
The Games on Demand version supports English. It’s the bloodiest and deadliest entertainment sport for a twisted new age: contestants in weaponized vehicles battle swarms of undead and each other in an orgy of ultra violence and self-preservation. You have stepped into the most ruthless modern-day gladiator arena on the planet. With the last man standing as the only survivor, you’ll need to crash, smash, shoot and mutilate your way to live another day!

Saw II - $39.99 - 2.14GB
The Games on Demand version supports English, French, Italian, German, Spanish. Step into the dark and tormented world of SAW II and experience the gruesome traps that Jigsaw has created to test your will to survive. With newly implemented puzzles and combat system, players will need to think fast and react to pass the rigors of the tests Jigsaw has engineered.

Rio - $59.99 - 1.84GB
The Games on Demand version supports English, French, Italian, German, Spanish. From the makers of the hit ICE AGE series comes RIO, a 3D comedy adventure about taking a walk on the wild side. The game focuses on Blu, a rare domesticated bird who travels to the exotic land of Rio. With the help of his female counterpart, Jewel and a group of wise-cracking and smooth-talking city birds, Blu goes on the adventure of his life! Along the way Blu journeys through Rio, dodging soccer balls, collecting tropical fruits and soaring across the beach. He participates in carnivals with new friends and ultimately, forms a conga line and dances his way to first place at the carnival ceremony. While the main character is Blu, players will also have a chance to play as the other characters from the movie in this multiplayer party game!”

Xbox Games on Demand for October 4, 2011 - We have a Crysis!

Last week we saw Crysis 2 release on Xbox Games on Demand. What better way to follow that up than to release the original Crysis? Also, if you want to play a Crysis game and perhaps don't have the 60 bucks to spend on Crysis 2, this might be the more affordable route since you'll only have to drop 20 clams to download. Any more money slang I can use? Scrilla, scratch, dinero, simoleons? Anyway, three new games to mention that have hit the Xbox Games on Demand today.

Crysis - $19.99 - 4.09GB
The Games on Demand version supports English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Czech, Russian, Japanese. Earth, 2019. A team of US scientists makes a frightening discovery on an island in the South China Sea. All contact with the team is lost when the North Korean Government quickly seals off the area. The United States responds by dispatching an elite team of Delta Force Operators to recon the situation. As tension rises between the two nations, a massive alien ship reveals itself in the middle of the island. The ship generates an immense force sphere that freezes a vast portion of the island and drastically alters the global weather system. Now the US and North Korea must join forces to battle the alien menace. With hope rapidly fading, you must fight epic battles through tropical jungle, frozen landscapes, and finally into the heart of the alien ship itself for the ultimate Zero G showdown.

Darkest of Days - $19.99 - 2.55GB
Tannenberg, Antietam, and Little Bighorn are some of the bloodiest days of battle in World history. Live through these events taking on hundreds of men at the same time! Xbox Games on Demand for September 27, 2011

While Games on Demand or downloadable games, I feel, in general is a good thing. It beats having to go out to the store at times, especially if it isn't close, and you can download it while you are busy doing other things. But I also always feel that games on demand should not be the same price as they are in the store. I suppose there is the cost of bandwidth for downloading the game but you don't get a box, manual, or physical disc so what justifies the same price? Microsoft, that's just my peeve, especially with Crysis 2 this week. $59.99 to download? But in a brighter light, there is Resident Evil Code: Veronica X. That is new on Xbox so perhaps that justifies it's $19.99 price point although, how old is the game now? Anyway, here is the complete list of releases for Games on Demand for September 27th:

Blur - $39.99 - 5.35GB
The Games on Demand version supports English, French, Italian, German, Spanish. Blur: Powered-Up Racing. Travel the globe to beat the best the streets have to offer. Utilize an armory of Power-ups including huge bursts of energy, defensive shields, nitro speed boosts and mines to beat your rivals across the finish line. Blur features insane collisions, realistic damage, stunning racing environments, real world locations and licensed photo-realistic cars. In multiplayer Blur supports competitive game-play for up to 20 racers online and 4 players locally split-screen.

Crysis 2 - $59.99 - 5.49GB
The Games on Demand version supports English, French. The world has been ravaged by a series of climatic disasters and society is on the verge of total breakdown. Now the aliens have returned, with a full invasion force bent on nothing less than the total annihilation of mankind, starting by trying to rip the heart out of Earth’s most iconic city.In New York, terrifying alien invaders stalk the streets and a nightmare plague strikes down the city’s myriad inhabitants with brutal epidemic speed. The city’s systems are in chaos, its streets and skyline are smashed and in flaming ruin. This is New York City like you’ve never seen it before.Neither paramilitary law enforcement nor the might of the US military machine can stand against the invaders, and all who choose not to flee are dead men walking. Just to survive in this maelstrom of death will require technology beyond anything any modern soldier has ever seen. One man will inherit that means to survive. One supersoldier, wielding the combat enhancement technology of the future with Nanosuit 2, will make the last stand to save humanity from destruction in the urban jungle that is New York City.

Frontlines: Fuel of War - $19.99 - 6.29GB
Frontlines: Fuel of War is a military-themed infantry and vehicle based, open-world first person shooter. The newly formed Red Star Alliance, led by Russia and China, clash with Western Coalition (U.S. & the European Union) forces over increasing energy shortages. This sets the stage for a massive conventional apocalypse pitting the biggest military powers against each other as they try to defend their interests and support their collapsing economies. Frontlines™: Fuel of War Dedicated Servers will no longer be available for the Microsoft® Xbox 360 after August 31st, 2011. Players can continue to host their own sessions, with a maximum player count of 16.

Resident Evil Code: Veronica X $19.99 - 1.83GB

Can Claire escape the horrors of the island?

New Feature! - Xbox Games on Demand for September 20, 2011

In an attempt to make you as aware as possible to the games coming out on Xbox Live, we're going to start a new weekly posting of the Xbox Games on Demand. If you're unfamiliar with this category of games on Xbox, it's basically full retail games that are now available for digital download on your Xbox 360. Occasionally that isn't always the case though. This way you're able to skip running down to the nearest Game Stop and waiting in line to pick up the game. Of course, it's typically games that have been out in the retail space for awhile that hit the Games on Demand. This weeks posting is a bit late as Games on Demand currently land on Xbox Live on Tuesdays.

I'm actually quite excited myself to see one of my favorite games come out to Games on Demand -- Resident Evil 4! Resident Evil 4 in HD! I currently own this game on two systems already too.

Suddenly, the man turns and attempts to strike Leon! Visions of the horror of Raccoon City flood Leon's mind as he realizes his nightmare has not yet ended.
